//{{anchor:s4}}Bronchitis.// {{anchor:s5}}—Miss B. aet 50, has been suffering for six weeks with Bronchitis under allopathic treatment. {{anchor:s6}}Thought by herself and friends to be dying. {{anchor:s7}}So weak cannot sit up in bed. {{anchor:s8}}Entire loss of appetite. {{anchor:s9}}Hectic at various times, both day and night. {{anchor:s10}}Great oppression of breathing across upper part of chest. {{anchor:s11}}Slight cough. {{anchor:s12}}Breathing very shallow—large rales can be heard several feet away. {{anchor:s13}}Expectorates large quantities of thick green mucus, which seems to accumulate in trachea and comes up without effort. {{anchor:s14}}Pulse too quick and shabby to be counted. {{anchor:s15}}Began treatment with a dose of //Nux vomica// 200 to antidote previous cough mixtures.

{{anchor:s16}}9th. {{anchor:s17}}On awaking this morning was seized with faintness and great prostration. {{anchor:s18}}Breathing very labored. {{anchor:s19}}Eyes glazed and staring. //{{anchor:s20}}Stannum// 2c (J.), one dose.

{{anchor:s21}}10th. {{anchor:s22}}Expectoration much diminished—breathing a little easier. {{anchor:s23}}Pulse 90. {{anchor:s24}}No medicine.

{{anchor:s56}}Sept. 12th, 1881. {{anchor:s57}}Not feeling very well for past week. {{anchor:s58}}At 11 A. M., in school had a severe rigor, came home blue and cold. {{anchor:s59}}Quickly followed by fever, sore throat and headache.

{{anchor:s60}}5.30 P.M. Pulse 160, temp. 105°. {{anchor:s61}}Face red and flushed, pupils dilated. {{anchor:s62}}Tongue pinky white with prominent red papillae. {{anchor:s63}}No appetite. {{anchor:s64}}Throat painfully sore on right side only. //{{anchor:s65}}Bell.// {{anchor:s66}}60M, one dose.

{{anchor:s67}}13th, 10 A. M. Had a very restless night with heavy breathing. {{anchor:s68}}No appetite. {{anchor:s69}}Headache gone and throat not so sore. {{anchor:s70}}Right side of neck considerably swollen. {{anchor:s71}}Mouth very dry. {{anchor:s72}}Tongue red and hot; white posteriorly. {{anchor:s73}}Patch of membrane on right tonsil, size of shilling, commencing on left tonsil. {{anchor:s74}}No motion of bowels since 11th. {{anchor:s75}}Pulse 140.

{{anchor:s76}}13th, 5 P. M. Continued improvement. {{anchor:s77}}Pulse 120. {{anchor:s78}}Temperature 103 4/5. {{anchor:s79}}No sore throat. {{anchor:s80}}Swallows well and appetite fairly good. {{anchor:s81}}Profuse sweat came on this afternoon and lasted all night. {{anchor:s82}}Watery coryza. {{anchor:s83}}Membrane equal on both sides. {{anchor:s84}}No medicine to-day.

Pulse 130. {{anchor:s86}}Temp. 100 4/5. {{anchor:s87}}Continued improvement. {{anchor:s88}}Slept well. {{anchor:s89}}Perspired all night. {{anchor:s90}}Membrane loosening on left side; right is still solid. {{anchor:s91}}Mucus membrane less angry and tumefied. {{anchor:s92}}Coryza less.

Pulse 120. {{anchor:s94}}Temp. 101°. {{anchor:s95}}Has been coughing up pieces of membrane which on inspection find to have come from left side, as right is still firm. {{anchor:s96}}Feels well and cheerful. {{anchor:s97}}No soreness of throat or pain on swallowing. {{anchor:s98}}No motion of bowels yet. {{anchor:s99}}No medicine.

{{anchor:s100}}Sept. 15th, 10 A. M. Pulse 120. {{anchor:s101}}Temp. 102°. {{anchor:s102}}Coryza less. {{anchor:s103}}Membrane nearly all gone from left side. {{anchor:s104}}A good deal of heat of skin. {{anchor:s105}}One dose //Bell.,// 60M. Bowels moved naturally during the day.

{{anchor:s106}}Sept. 16th. {{anchor:s107}}Pulse 110. {{anchor:s108}}Temp. 99°. {{anchor:s109}}Membrane gone from left side and loosening on right No medicine.

{{anchor:s115}}Sept. 18. {{anchor:s116}}Pulse 80. {{anchor:s117}}Temp. 98°. {{anchor:s118}}No sign of membrane at all; slight redness of tonsils. {{anchor:s119}}Tongue normal pink. {{anchor:s120}}Lips dry. {{anchor:s121}}Profuse epistaxis yesterday afternoon and again during the night. {{anchor:s122}}Dismissed the case with a dose of //Bryonia// 2c (J.), to be taken at bed-time.

{{anchor:s123}}[The points of interest in this case are the marked direction of the disease, and its retrogression of cure—the critical sweat of second day—and a secondary crisis (?) by epistaxis on the sixth day.] //Orchitis —//A. F. P. 29.

{{anchor:s124}}Sept. 15th, 1881. {{anchor:s125}}An allopathic physician, has been suffering more or less for last fortnight with swollen left testicle. {{anchor:s126}}Yesterday pain grew so severe he almost fainted—took 1/2 gr. of morphia without any relief. {{anchor:s127}}Today cannot walk on account of the excruciating pain when anything touched it; “ //sore as a boil,// if not worse,” he says. {{anchor:s128}}Has read Bumstead on venereal diseases, and wants to know if I am giving him //Pulsatilla?// {{anchor:s129}}Prescribed //Hepar// 1000, one dose in water, to be taken several times during the hour and then discontinued. {{anchor:s130}}In two hours was able to take a long walk without inconvenience. {{anchor:s131}}Next day reported himself entirely //cured.//
