 +====== PROVINGS OF GALVANISMUS.======

 +{{anchor:s2}}%%*[%%Read before the Homoeopathic Society of the County of Kings, Brooklyn. {{anchor:s3}}May 10th, 1859.]
 +
 +{{anchor:s4}}BY B. FINCKE, M. D., BROOKLYN, N. Y.
 +
 +{{anchor:s5}}Our homoeopathic literature possesses only few provings of Galvanic Electricity; furnished by Hartlaub and Trinks, in their "Systematische Darstellung der reinen Wirkungen der antipsorischen Mittel-3 Bande, Dresden, bei Arnold, 1829."
 +
 +{{anchor:s6}}Lately, Dr. Nichol has rendered a valuable addition, obtained by a single shock, which was published by order of the Prover's Union, in the <span grade2>North American Journal of Homoeopathy</span>, Vol. VII p. 67.
 +
 +{{anchor:s7}}All these provings point to the pathogenetic relation of Galvanismus to Scarlatina.
 +
 +{{anchor:s8}}The following provings by small doses confirm this view, and at the same time present some other and new symptoms.
 +
 +{{anchor:s9}}The provings were made in the Spring of 1852, by means of a weak Daniel's Battery put up as follows: In a tumbler holding about two ounces of a solution of sulphate of copper, of about one drachm to the ounce of water, was inserted, a two dram bottle opened and closed again with a bladder at the lower end. {{anchor:s10}}This bottle was filled with water acidulated with three or four drops of Sulphuric acid. {{anchor:s11}}About ten grains of metallic zinc were put in this fluid. {{anchor:s12}}Two copper chains made of wire, about one twentieth of an inch in diameter were immersed, the one into the copper solution, and the other into the acidulated water, and the outer ends of these chains formed the poles.
 +
 +{{anchor:s13}}In each case, the two poles were applied for a few seconds to the anterior part of the tongue, one touching it above, the other below.
