EQUISETUM HYEMALE

Equisetum Hyemale.

Scouring Rush. Equisetaceae.

A rush, growing in damp soil in Europe and North America.

The tincture is prepared from the fresh plant, chopped and pounded to a pulp.

A popular remedy for dropsy, suppression of urine, gravel, haematuria, gonorrhea and gleet.

Proved by Smith, De Korth, and Chapin. See Allen's Encyclopaedia, vol. 4, p. 204.

Dull pain in region of right kidney, with urgent desire to urinate.
Pain and tenderness in region of bladder, with soreness of testicles, extending up spermatic cords.
Tenderness in region of bladder on pressure.
Tenderness in region of bladder, and right side of lower abdomen, extending upward from groin; same in left but more on right, in forenoon.
Pain in bladder, as from distension.
Severe and dull pain in bladder, not amel. after urinating.
Dysuria of women, with extreme and frequent urging to urinate, with severe pain, especially immediately after urine is voided.
Sharp, cutting pain in urethra.
Excessive burning in urethra while urinating.
Extreme and frequent urging to urinate, with severe pain, especially immediately after urine is voided.
Frequent desire to urinate, during afternoon, with biting sensation in urethra during and after urination.
Constant desire to urinate, and pass large quantities of clear light-colored urine without relief.
Profuse flow of urine night and day, pain after urination; involuntary urination without pain.
Enuresis diurna et nocturna of children.
Enuresis nocturna, when there is no tangible cause, except a habit.
Obliged to get up several times during night to urinate.
Great desire to urinate, but only a small amount passed each time.
Amount of urine grows less each time he urinates, but the desire increases.
Passed small amount of urine, but felt as though had not urinated for hours.
Urine high-colored and scanty.
Urine on standing shows great excess of mucus, otherwise normal.
Painful urination with albuminous urine.
Cystitis.
General paralysis in an old woman, in whom control over stools and urine, long completely lost, was rapidly restored.

Night: profuse flow of urine; obliged to get up several times to urinate; wets bed.

Left: tenderness of lower abdomen.
Right: dull pain in region of kidney; tenderness of side of lower abdomen.

SENSATIONS. [43]

Pain: in bladder.
Severe pain: in bladder.
Sharp cutting pain: in urethra.
Biting sensation: in urethra.
Burning: in urethra.
Soreness: of testicle.
Tenderness: in region of bladder; right side of lower abdomen extending upward from groin.
Dull pain: in region of right kidney; in region of bladder; in bladder.
