GYMNOCLADUS CANADENSIS

Gymnocladus Canadensis.

Chicot, American coffee-tree. Leguminosae.

Introduced by Hering and proved under his supervision. See Allen's Encyclopaedia, vol. 4, p. 519.

Tincture of the fresh pulp in the pods.

MIND. [1]

Cannot think, comprehend or study; forgets everything.
Indifference to what happens around him.

SENSORIUM. [2]

Dizziness with dimness of sight; nausea, belching.
Head feels full, tight, as if bound up.

INNER HEAD. [3]

Intense frontal headache, eyes feel as if pushed forward.
Fullness and pressure in and over, eyes, extending to top of head.
Throbbing headache over left eye.
Pain in left temple to ear and top of head, shooting through to right side.
Bruised feeling of head, left side.
Pain in head and back.
Intense headache, with stitches in bowels; in umbilical region at times.
Catarrhal headaches, premonitory stages; feeling of fullness in head, with throbbing in temples and forehead, with vertigo, heat of face, numbness and tired feeling.

OUTER HEAD. [4]

Desire to lean the head on something.

SIGHT AND EYES. [5]

Eyes feel as if pushed forward.
Pain in left eyeball and temple.
Burning heat and pain through eyes.
Eyes feel sore in morning.

SMELL AND NOSE. [7]

Frequent violent sneezing, originating very high up in nose.

UPPER FACE. [8]

Sensation as if flies were crawling over right side of face.
Erysipelatous swelling of face and head; hot face; it feels swollen; is compelled to rub the eyes.

TEETH AND GUMS. [10]

Great sensibility of teeth; agg. on left side and in upper teeth; slightest draught of cold air causes toothache; cold drink very painful.

TASTE, SPEECH, TONGUE. [11]

Tongue coated bluish-white.

INNER MOUTH. [12]

Burning, drawing and scraping; burning in roof of mouth, extending to uvula and tonsils.

PALATE AND THROAT. [13]

Inflammation and purple color of right tonsil.
Sore throat, dark livid redness of fauces and tonsils.
Sticking and shooting in throat.
Mucus in throat and frequent hawking.

HICCOUGH, BELCHING, NAUSEA AND VOMITING. [16]

Belching of sour water.
Nausea after eating, with pain and fullness in stomach, and belching.

SCROBICULUM AND STOMACH. [17]

Burning in esophagus and stomach.
Heat in stomach and sour, watery eructations.
Circumscribed burning in stomach, the size of a dollar.

HYPOCHONDRIA. [18]

Pain in left side, as if spleen were swollen.

ABDOMEN AND LOINS. [19]

Soreness and tenderness of abdomen.
Stitches in bowels and umbilical region.

STOOLS AND RECTUM. [20]

Constipation, with ineffectual disposition to go to stool.
After stool, aching fullness in rectum.

URINARY ORGANS. [21]

Pressure on bladder and frequent desire to urinate; urine passed in a small stream.

MALE SEXUAL ORGANS. [22]

Itching of glans penis and prepuce.

VOICE AND LARYNX. TRACHEA AND BRONCHIA. [25]

Smarting in larynx.

COUGH. [27]

Tickling in throat in morning, causing cough, increasing through day; cough dry, hard and racking.

INNER CHEST AND LUNGS. [28]

Pressure on chest and sternum.

HEART, PULSE AND CIRCULATION. [29]

Pulse small and weak.

OUTER CHEST. [30]

Stitches in right breast and intercostal muscles.

UPPER LIMBS. [32]

Violent pain in left forearm, in radius, as if bones were crushed and broken.
Pulsation in left index, as if panaritium were forming.

LOWER LIMBS. [33]

Stinging pain in left knee-joint.

REST. POSITION. MOTION. [35]

Desire to lean head on something.
Repugnance to motion.
Easily fatigued.

NERVES. [36]

Repugnance to motion; a short walk in afternoon fatigues him much.

TIME. [38]

Morning; eyes feel sore; tickling in throat.
Afternoon: short walk fatigues him much.
Aggravation in evening.

TEMPERATURE AND WEATHER. [39]

Desire for heat; wants to be near fire.
Cold drinks very painful.
Cold draughts of air cause toothache.

FEVER. [40]

Desire for heat; wants to be near the fire.
Cold chills and pains in bowels (in descending colon).
Perspiration of axillary region and palms of hands.
Epidemic fevers, typhoid in character.

ATTACKS, PERIODICITY. [41]

At times stitches in umbilical region.
Frequent sneezing.

LOCALITY AND DIRECTION. [42]

Right: sensation as if flies were crawling on side of face; inflammation and purple color of tonsil; stitches in breast.
Left: throbbing headache over eye; pain in temple to ear; bruised feeling of head; pain in eyeball; sensibility of teeth; pain in side as if spleen were swollen; violent pain in forearm; pulsation in index finger; stinging pain in knee-joint.

SENSATIONS. [43]

Head feels as if bound up; eyes feel as if pushed forward; as if flies were crawling over right side of face; as if spleen were swollen; as if bones of forearm were crushed and broken; pulsation in left index as if panisitium were forming.
Pain: in left temple to ear and top of head; in head and back; in left eyeball; in temple; through eyes; in stomach; in left side; in bowels.
Violent pain: in left forearm; in radius.
Intense frontal headache.
Stitches: in bowels; in umbilical region; in breast and intercostal muscles.
Sticking: in throat.
Stinging pain: in left knee-joint.
Shooting: through head to right side; in throat.
Throbbing headache: over left eye; in temples.
Burning heat: in eyes; in roof of mouth; in esophagus; in stomach.
Circumscribed burning: in stomach.
Heat: in face; in stomach.
Aching fullness: in rectum.
Drawing: in roof of mouth.
Bruised feeling: of head; left side.
Tenderness: of abdomen.
Great sensibility of teeth.
Sore feeling: in eyes; in throat; in abdomen.
Smarting: in larynx.
Tickling: in larynx.
Scraping: in roof of mouth.
Swollen feeling of face.
Fullness: in and over eyes; in stomach.
Head feels full, tight.
Pressure: in and over eyes; on bladder; on chest and sternum.
Numbness and tired feeling.
Itching: of glans penis and prepuce.
