Legatum Homeopathicum

Wednesday 27th, March 2013

Dear subscriber,

there is a lot of activity going on at Legatum Homeopathicum, a new face of our web site being one of the more visible. We hope you'll like the new clean design which aims to improve the readability of the many articles available here.

The Homoeopathic Physician magazine is under way

There's a lot more happening behind the scenes, hidden from the eye of the observer, mostly good old hard work. While we rejoice to see an increased interest in our activities, at the moment, we are seriously lacking more proofreaders for project HomeoPublish, The Homoeopathic Physician magazine specifically. Our OCR people are churning out pages at a rate we have difficulty of matching, so we would welcome more ABLE volunteers willing to invest time and effort into this useful activity and learn plenty about good homeopathy during the process. If you believe you have enough time and attention to detail for this task, please test your proofreading muscle on the provided sample and submit the result of your efforts for consideration.

Scientific studies section

We would also like to direct your attention to our scientific studies section, which has grown considerably during the past few months, in the care of Dr. Sivák, who is the current section leader of this part of Legatum Homeopathicum effort.

You can help

If you like what we do and wish to help, you will find the list of available volunteer positions here. You can also support us by linking to our web site from your own page or by placing a relevant links in homeopathic forum, blogs and related pages.

Our goal

As indicated in our first communication and about section, restoration and advancement of pure Hahnemannian homeopathy is our primary goal, realized by means of developing various projects. In order to repeat the practical success of our homeopathic predecessors, we need to go back to the ROOTS of Hahnemannian teachings and relearn the true principles of the science of homeopathy. The articles from the old homeopathic journals contain many a treasure which you can dig out and claim for yourself.

Homeopathy – an individualization, not a generalization

The words of P.P.Wells ring as true today, as they did in 1885:

"Homoeopathy is in its nature a philosophy of individualization. Without this, Homoeopathy is not. We bring this fact to mind because of its almost entire absence from the teaching and literature of the day which is put forth as homoeopathic in our colleges, and so generally in the writings for our journals. The prevailing effort is, in these last days, to substitute for this a generalization, which may relieve the prescriber from the careful toil of dealing, as the law requires, with what may seem to him, at times, as only, or no better than, "a wilderness of symptoms", though so to deal with them alone constitutes a practice homoeopathic. The modern resort to generalization in pretended homoeopathic practice and teaching is ever an exclusion of all which is essential to the philosophy of the natural law of therapeutics. * [This exclusion appears to have been resorted to, and this generalization substituted, in the interest of the lazy or the ignorant. It is a resort of the endeavor to make that easy which in the nature of the case can never be made easy. The result is only a sacrifice of the truth.]. This, for its practical administration, requires a gathering and analysis of all the elements of the sickness to be cured, before any other step of clinical duty can be taken under the guidance of this law. The generalizer thrusts this requirement of law aside, takes the sickness as a whole, a thing with a name to it, and then, if he has any regard to our law, or is presumed to have, he further generalizes that a certain drug, or it may be drugs (if he be an alternate), has produced in the healthy organism a similar thing. He names his thing, and is thus found on ground wholly allopathic, or nearly so, and that he obtains his medicines from Smith or Tafel, and gives them in small or large doses, does not change this fact in the least."

Question for André Saine

Q: Are there any trustworthy records of successfully curing rabies with homeopathy alone (after the symptoms appeared, not prophylactically)?

A: In 2003, I began reviewing the homeopathic literature in times of epidemics. I have so far uncovered over 7,000 references of which 2,000 have been incorporated into a comprehensive text that is now over two thousand pages long and... Read the full answer »
